SCULPTURES (1991 - 2000)
Nicolas uses clay from the Saint John's river, which is a naturally occurring aluminium silicate composed primarily of fine-grained minerals, and bronze which is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive.
Lost wax technique is used for metal casting in his sculptures. A wax model is created and a mould is made around it. The wax model is lost when it is burnt out of the mould to leave a cavity for the bronze or other molten metal.
